A Men’s Perm Is More Than Just Curls

Looking for a men’s perm in Singapore that feels natural, looks stylish and is easy to manage?

At haarAttic Hair Salon, we see perming as more than simply creating curls. It’s about building the right movement, volume, texture and shape around your hair type, face shape and everyday lifestyle.

With 20 years of hairdressing experience in Singapore, haarAttic has seen men’s hairstyles evolve from classic cuts to Japanese-inspired texture, Korean perms and today’s more relaxed, personalised styles.

Whether you’re looking for subtle volume, effortless waves, better control or a complete transformation, our stylists will recommend a perm technique and curl pattern that complements you.

A Great Men’s Perm Starts With the Right Haircut

The haircut forms the foundation of a good perm.

The way we create layers, weight, length and graduation determines how the hair moves and how naturally the finished curls fall. That’s why at haarAttic, we design the haircut and perm together as one complete hairstyle rather than treating perming as a separate technical service.

From clean short cuts and skin fades to Korean-inspired layers, textured medium-length styles, creative colour and modern perms, we take a complete approach to men’s hair.

The goal isn’t simply to give you curls. It’s to create a hairstyle that looks good, suits you and works in everyday life.

Which Men’s Perm Is Right for You?

There isn’t one perm that suits every man. Hair texture, length, density, growth direction, face shape and your preferred level of maintenance all matter.

Korean Men’s Perm

Soft, wearable movement inspired by contemporary Korean hairstyles. Ideal for creating natural bends and controlled volume without overly tight curls. Great for: Straight or flat hair, medium lengths, Korean-inspired styles and natural everyday styling.

Down Perm

Hair sticking out at the sides? A Down Perm helps control stubborn side hair by directing it closer to the head for a cleaner, slimmer silhouette. Great for: Bulky sides, stubborn growth, cleaner head shape and low-maintenance Korean hairstyles.

C-Curl Perm

A gentle curved bend rather than an obvious curl. It gives straight hair direction and helps a haircut sit more naturally. Great for: First-time perm clients, professional hairstyles and men who want subtle movement.

S-Curl Perm

A stronger wave pattern than a C-Curl, adding more visible texture, dimension and movement throughout the hairstyle. Great for: Medium-length hair, textured styles and clients who want more noticeable waves.

C + S Hybrid Perm

Combines softer bends and stronger waves in different areas for a more customised, less uniform and naturally styled finish. Great for: Customised hairstyles, natural texture and medium-length hair.

Wave Perm

Relaxed waves and texture while keeping the overall look soft and wearable. It can make flat hair appear fuller and easier to style. Great for: Flat hair, casual hairstyles, natural volume and effortless texture.

Wet Look Perm

A stronger fashion statement with defined, separated curls that work especially well with gel, cream or other wet-finish styling products. Great for: Fashion-forward styles, defined curls and medium or longer hair.

Textured Perm

Designed around movement rather than perfectly uniform curls. Strategic direction creates separation, volume and an effortless finish. Great for: Short-to-medium hair, messy textured looks and fine or flat hair.

Root / Volume Perm

If flatness is the concern rather than curls, a volume-focused perm can create lift in selected areas and improve the overall hairstyle shape. Great for: Flat roots, fine-looking hair and clients wanting lift rather than obvious curls.

Perm + Down Perm

For many Asian men, combining movement on top with controlled sides can create a more balanced overall silhouette. Great for: Clients who want volume and texture on top while keeping the sides neat and controlled.

Not Sure Which Perm to Choose?

You don’t have to decide before coming in.

Bring us a reference photo—or simply tell us what you dislike about your current hair. Our stylist can assess your hair texture, length, density, growth direction, face shape, existing haircut, chemical history and styling habits before recommending a suitable approach.

The objective isn’t to give everyone the same perm. It’s to create a hairstyle that works for you.

Men’s Perm FAQ

How long does a men’s perm last?

It varies depending on hair condition, curl strength, haircut, home care and how quickly your hair grows. Your stylist can give you a more realistic expectation after assessing your hair.

Will a perm damage my hair?

Perming is a chemical process, so some stress to the hair is unavoidable. Proper assessment, suitable product selection and aftercare are important, especially for previously chemically treated hair.

Can I perm bleached hair?

Possibly, but not every head of bleached hair is suitable for perming. The condition and chemical history of your hair should be assessed first, and in some cases we may recommend against perming.

Can men with short hair get a perm?

Yes, provided there is enough length for the intended curl or movement. Very short hair can limit the type of perm that can be created.

I only want volume. Do I need curly hair?

No. A perm can be designed to create subtle lift, direction or movement without making the hair look obviously curly.

Is a Down Perm the same as a normal perm?

No. A traditional perm generally creates movement or curls, while a Down Perm is mainly used to control hair that sticks outward and create a flatter, cleaner shape.

What should I show my stylist?

Reference photos are extremely useful. Show us hairstyles you like and, equally importantly, tell us what you don’t wan Tip: Send us a photo of your current hair together with your desired hairstyle for an initial consultation.
